From 4 to 7 November, Fantoni once again took part in the annual event in Rimini for Ecomondo, the leading international trade fair for the Green and Circular Economy.

“For many years we have been investing in environmental sustainability — from raw materials to energy sources and logistics. It is a long and complex process, but we are deeply convinced that our role, both as entrepreneurs and as citizens, is to leave our land in a better condition than we received it. This is regardless of market demands and increasingly stringent regulations.”
With these words, President Paolo Fantoni comments on some of the green strategy initiatives undertaken by the Fantoni Group and presented at the Ecomondo trade fair in Rimini.
Today, approximately 100 trucks enter the Osoppo Campus every day, delivering a total of 450,000 tons of recycled wood per year, which is then transformed into chipboard and MDF panels. In the coming years, the Fantoni Group plans to further increase this green resource and has therefore launched a major investment plan to develop its own supply chain.
The first link in the chain is the network of recycled wood collection platforms, where an initial quality selection and subsequent volumetric reduction of the material take place. The incoming wood comes mainly from environmental multi-utilities and industry. These platforms are planned throughout Northern and Central Italy, in strategic locations close to the furniture manufacturing districts. The Pordenone platform (WBF1), serving the provinces of Pordenone and Treviso, has been operational for three years. A second platform located in Pesaro (WBF2) will begin operations in the first months of 2026, followed by a third in Brianza (WBF3).
Transport to the Osoppo Campus is handled by the Group’s subsidiary Natolino, which has invested — and continues to invest — not only in low-emission trucks, but also in “walking floor” trailers. These trailers allow the transport of panels on the outbound trip and recycled wood on the return trip, delivering all the environmental and economic benefits typical of the circular economy, such as a drastic reduction in empty hauls. The vehicle fleet renewal plan amounts to 4 million euros.
A cornerstone of the Group’s green strategy is the large-scale photovoltaic system installed on the premises’ roofs — the largest of its kind in Italy and one of the largest in Europe — which will start operating at the end of the year. It consists of 27,614 solar panels covering 220,000 square meters of roof surface, capable of generating 13.37 GWh per year, equivalent to a reduction of 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The installation will supply 5% of the plant’s annual electricity demand, in addition to the eight hydroelectric power stations and biomass boilers that already meet 70% of the company’s energy needs from renewable sources.
